In 1996, just a few weeks after being sworn into the Bar, James found an office space to work out of and the Law Office of James Michel was born. Ever since, James has enjoyed working on his own, providing close attention and care to his clients and managing every aspect of his cases from the initial client interview through trial. James has always focused his practice on areas of law that allow him to help regular people who find themselves in difficult situations.
James enjoys researching challenging legal issues in depth and continues to constantly improve his practice by attending special conferences on topics such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. He is also a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and a graduate of Max Gardner’s Bankruptcy Boot Camp.
James received his law degree from Golden Gate University of San Francisco and has a BA in Philosophy and Mathematics from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He and his wife have lived in San Francisco for over 25 years and enjoy raising their two daughters in the city. In addition to his passion for the law, James is an avid musician and practices meditation daily.
